Jack and Jill
While we were onboard, the movie "Jack and Jill" was being filmed with Adam Sandler,
Al Pacino (who was not onboard at this time) and Katie Holmes. In the film, Jack, a
family man, deals with his twin sister, Jill, when she visits for Thanksgiving then
won't leave. Adam Sandler plays both characters. Katie Holmes plays Sandler's wife;
Al Pacino is set to play himself.
During our two days onboard, several areas were temporarily blocked off for filming,
with throngs of gawkers hoping to snap their photos, even though it wasn’t allowed.
We'd hear about sightings and near sightings the whole time and speculation on whether
one of the kids was Suri Cruise (in the water play area) or one of Adam's children.
No, I didn’t see any of them, but did catch someone being filmed and took pictures
through one of the restaurant windows. I just don’t know who the people were—possibly
extras or minor characters?
This putting adventure was a closed set for filming.
The Decor
Sherri went to ride the zip line, but came back to trade in her flip flops for her
sports shoes. No loose shoes were allowed. She also had to remove her jewelry. I
was in the cabin after she returned and left again. These are her famous zip lining
shoes.
In most of the areas where I thought I heard piped in music, I later discovered live
performers and musicians.
Out of the twelve bar areas, the signature Rising Tide Bar moves slowly up and down
between Deck 5 and Deck 8, between Central Park and the Royal Promenade. A crystal
veranda surrounds cocktail tables and seating areas.
Making a decision a little too late to get everything, I tried to take pictures of
some of the ship’s décor, so I didn’t get everything I liked, but here are a few samples.
The Cupcake Cupboard obviously sells cupcakes. You can get a great salad at the Park
Café. Or dine in the Windjammer Marketplace.
Wire lace dresses decorated the multi-level space between elevator banks. By the
way, the elevators were extremely efficient.
The Royal Promenade had interesting features at every angle.
